I received a sample of Maggie's Soap Nuts (lavendar liquid version) and loved it on my daughter's clothing! I thought, 'Fantastic, a natural laundry soap for my baby's clothes!' So, I ordered 34oz bottles. I not only had a hard time ordering and receiving (but that is not the point) but my diapers aren't coming out clean!!!!!

I rinse ALL of my diapers, wet or soiled, in the toilet first. I place them into a dry pail with a mesh bag. Every other day I wash my diapers, almost always doing a quick rinse first. I use 1oz (the amount called for a HE washer) of the detergent and the diapers, at first, came out smelling nice. I have been using this method since Christmas Eve (the day I received the detergent via UPS) and I have stopped since.

After 3 weeks, I noticed my diapers were smelling soiled still once the wash was over! I washed with Maggie's detergent another 3 times, and noticed the same soiled smell everytime. I consulted ME and they suggested going back to my previous detergent for a few washes and see how they come out. Finally, after 2 washes with my previous detergent, they smell and feel clean again.

I'm a little nervous to go back to Maggie's, and I'm afraid to use it on her clothing, incase they aren't getting properly cleaned.

Any suggestions????

Thanks!!
Sarah

I've been using soapnut liquid on my diapers for the last little while and they smell and feel clean...  Only difference is that I make my own liquid by boiling soapnuts (shells) and then I use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of liquid (depends on the load size) in my HE front loader and it works great!!  Do you have soapnuts??  If so, try boiling 7-8 nuts in 4 cups of water for 20-30 minutes, strain the liquid and use it as above and see how your diapers turn out!!  Good luck!

Yeah, my only thought is just how many soapnuts the concentrate is made out of. Like just how concentrated are we talking? Sounds like you might need to up your usage amount until you see the results you like.

No personal experience with soapnuts or concentrate, but I wouldn't be concerned about using what you have on DD's clothes.  Worst case you're not seeing food stains get out the way you want, but I don't see it causing any harm.

Uping the dose for the diapers may actually do the trick...I've emailed the company asking for further advice. I don't have the nuts, I only have the liquid. I'll try 2oz instead of 1oz.

Thanks everyone!!!!
