  Buying used (jessnye)

Hi; I have been reading about Motherease diapers for a long time now and I sold off my one size Bella Bottoms and Bumgenius to buy some Motherease because I looked at how long people had been using them (on Diaperpin) and realized that they are more durable.  I just didn't think to look at the length of time people had used their diapers when I was doing my research while I was pregnant.  So now we are using prefolds and flats with prorap covers and I am going to buy some Motherease.  Right now in the FSOT forum I have responded to an ad for 37 one sized diapers, 17 Sandy's, and a bunch of covers.  I'm pretty sure the diapers will last through my 2 babies but what about the covers?  Do you guys who already have Motherease covers know how long they seem to last?  I have an 8 month old and we're expecting.

I have ME Airflows that have been through 3 babies and I'm now using on my twins. They've been through at least 5-6 years of constant use on my two oldest, took a bit of a break where they were used a short while by my niece and I've been using them on my twins for about 6 months now! Still going strong!! Now, they don't *look* new of course, the print is faded & dingy and the inside is quite yellowed. But they still work great! Can't get tougher than that!!

Karen.

ME only guarantees their covers for a few months, but if they are treated well, most of us find that they last and last and last.  I have four L AFs that have been used for nearly four years now and they are still going strong.  I also have four that have had about two years of use, and while I can tell the difference by looking at the insides (older ones are a bit yellowed), the outsides are still bright and nice-looking on all eight.  And of course they are all still night-worthy.

If I were buying used covers, I'd probably feel better about buying smaller sizes, as they tend to get used for much less time than something like a L.  That being said, however, I wouldn't shy away from used covers as long as you have some idea of how long they've been used and, ideally, how they've been cared for.
