Will MEOS fit a newborn from the start? (jrose_lee)

Hi!

Just thinking about getting some MEOS for a baby due in April.  My other child was about 9lbs when born so I'm thinking this one won't be extremely small.

Will the MEOS fit right from the start or will they be too big and leak etc?

Thanks!

They are gonna look really big but they work. My newborn had gaps in the legs and I swear the diaper fit him from nipple line down, even folded over. But we never leaked and he grew so darn fast, they only fit like that for about a month. So we just dealt with the biggness.

I used both the MEOS and the S Sandys from 6.5lbs with my little preemie when I got sick of leaks with disposables and figured I didn't have much to lose.  No leaks at all with them, even though they weren't entirely snug.  Bulk is in the eye of the beholder and the build of the baby, but the diapers absolutely will work.

I think they just look really big on newborns especially those under 8lbs.  however I think it would look better and work better and feel better than disposibles.

One advantage to a big butt is that at least for us, DH was more comfortable handling DSs in cloth because they felt more substantial!

Hey there! My son is 3 weeks today, and he's probably close to 10 lbs. I started with disposables at birth, 8 lbs 11 oz, but only used them for 4 days cause of leaks. I bought newborn prefolds cause I was scared of the fitteds being too big in the beginning, and have small sandys and MEOS. Yes, the MEOS look big and fluffy, but they are wonderful, and you dont worry about leaks. I dont even have them, or the AF covers, on the tightest snaps. They dont have to fit tight to work, which is another plus- they look so comfy! Especially if you think you'll have a bigger baby, you wont have any problem getting them to fit from birth. Word of advice though- dont buy any little pants or anything "fitted" cause their bottoms are pretty big and probably wont fit. My son was already out of NB clothes at 2 weeks.

I love my small sandys too, actually, I like them a little better. But, cause of money, I'll probably stick to OS after he outgrows the small sandys. He outgrew the prefolds pretty quick, and they leaked a few times... and I didnt need them after all.

I'll be happy to email you pics of my son in his OS- just let me know!

Hope this helps you!

Amber
