Can't use inserts until on largest setting? (jrose_lee)

Hi!  I just got my new diapers and I'm very excited!  I got colored MEOS.  I've looked at the instructions and it seems that you can't use inserts until it's on the largest setting.  Is this correct?  Don't any babies/toddlers need inserts on the medium setting or is this just not ever a problem?

Thanks!

It's true that you can't snap in the liners until you stop folding the diaper over, but you can still use them. Just lay them in the diaper, they don't shift or anything. The Sandy's liners aren't snap-in and they work the same.

It does depend on how big your baby is as to when you stop folding the diaper down but most newborns/small babies don't need the extra absorbancy of a liner. Most poop so often that they get changed way before needing more absorbancy. Only time you're likely to truly need a liner is when your baby stops pooping at night and you can then go longer between changes (ie to minimize nighttime disruptions). Then, depending how long we're talking about and how much of a heavy wetter the baby is, you may need a liner.

you can use them on the folded over setting, you just either fold it over too and snap underneath the liner(innermost snaps)or don't snap it at all and leave it sticking out the back. We had to use ours the "hidden snap" method because our boy was a heavy wetter.
Maybe I'm over explaining but the hidden snap method is like this:
Snap in a liner. Fold front part of the diaper over like instructions say to use for small or medium setting. Now bring in the wings to the center. Lift up the middle of the front of the liner to reveal the snaps in the middle of the row. Snap the wings.
When baby gets to the needing the outside snaps that the liner is snapped to, it gets a little tricky. You can either just not snap the folded over liner to the diaper and use the cover to help the liner stay folded or stop folding the whole diaper over and cinch it up on larger setting or only snap the liner on one side.
You learn to do what works. We didn't need liners for daytime, just at night, so it was okay for us to just snap one side or cinch up the larger setting to work with smaller baby.
You'll find your own way.

Couldn't you just fold the liner in half (or partway) and just put it in the diaper like that? It's true that I never used the OS much on a newborn but you totally lost me on the explanations! LOL! We need a video option on this forum! ;-)

Or you could always get some small Sandy's liners and use those if really necessary. They'll be small enough to fit fine and you can still use them later on even in the larger setting.

I think you should fold it up like an oragami dove, then stick it in the diaper. Now that would be cool!

We use a liner at night for my DGS...he's almost 4 months, and since we still use the MEOS on the small setting, we just fold the liner in half and lay it up front in his wet zone...works great!  I've snapped it in before (like the PP described) and just folded the whole thing over, but it's a little more bulky that way so I prefer to just fold it and lay it in.
