Slightly OT - Yeast and mommy pads (Fanfreluche)

My DS has never had a yeast rash, but I have yeast infections regularly and reading the latest thread about washing diapers and fungal infections, it made me realize that my cloth pads could harbor the fungus. So thanks for the tips, I guess I will soak them in vinegar and/or iron them since we don't have bleach in our house and I'd rather keep it that way.

But when I mentioned that to DH, he had a good point: can I transfer the fungus to DS by washing my pads with his diapers? I usually do as we wash diapers more often than regular clothes, so that way I don't need as many pads. What do you ladies think? Should I stop? Or is it far-fetched and unlikely?

I would say far fetched and un likely, but i am no expert.  I haven't heard of mama cloth transfering yeast to cd's, i would keep washing like normal especially if your DS has never had a yeat infection/rash.

I'm going to say unlikely as well.  I waged war against yeast when DD was little.  We were battling thrush in her mouth and on my nipples...the yeast won.  I ended up having to wait it out. I tried every trick in the book but the only one that did either of us any good was time.

Just another option to tell you about in case your still worried about it. There is a product called the Diva cup. Lots of women swear buy it and love it. It's a silicone cup that you insert and it catches everything. You just empty it a couple of times a day (is safe for over night use unlike tampons), wash it out with water and reinsert. My sister has finally convinced me to give it a try. I found them at a natural food store for about $40. It's supposed to be very safe since it only catches instead of absorbs..no toxic shock!

Unlike the other ladies i actually think that it definately could be possible for the yeast to be in your pads?? I also battle yeast on a regular basis but if your child doesn't normally battle any kind of yeast then i would say that it probably isn't happening. If you are then i would definately try seperating it for a while to see if it helps.
