Hello ladies,
In the past month or so, I started having leaks once in a while at night. DS is 18-months-old and I have all OS, so at night I use two liners. Some mornings, the diaper is barely wet, but others, it's completely saturated, and about twice a week, I'd say, his pajamas get wet, too (and sometimes his bedding). Obviously, I need more absorbency.
DH seems to think that DS would be extremely uncomfortable with a third liner (the bulk does seem impressive). So I'm wondering if I should buy just a few L Sandy's for night-time, as they are a bit more absorbent, but I wonder if the difference will make it worth it. I could also buy Toddle-Ease diapers. I already have XL covers, so I could use that, and it may come in handy if my son is late potty-training (maybe more useful than L Sandy's since I have a large stack of OS), but my son is only 25 pounds so I suspect the Toddle-Ease wouldn't work. Or maybe if it's just for night and he doesn't walk in it it would be ok?
I don't want to buy extra diapers if I don't have to, but I was just wondering if anyone would have some advice that could come in handy?
Thanks! |

| Have you tried putting two diapers on? It' a bit bulky, but it works for us. I doubt our kids really care about the bulkiness... |

Yeah, I really don't think the kids care about bulk. Especially at night... I've double diapered or used 3 liners lots of times on my last 3 (first wasn't a particularly heavy wetter) and they would waddle around not even noticing/caring.
That said, the Toddle-Ease may help just in the fact that it's higher in the rise and such. So you'd have extra absorbancy without having to add that much bulk (at least not between the legs). I'd say they would probably be a bit big for daytime but would be fine for night.
If you're concerned about bulk you could always try either bamboo or hemp (either liners or diapers). Both are more absorbant than cotton so would either be trimmer than cotton or be the same trimness with more absorbancy.

If I was going to do it again, I would have invested in a few toddler ease. When your son is older he may need them if he doesn't potty train really early or if he is big.
The other thing is you could try changing what you are using as a liner. I used to use a flat fold along with a snap in liner successfully but it got to the point where I needed a bigger night time diaper so I went with large Sandy's. They worked well but my daughter eventually outgrew the OS and the large Sandy's.
This is only my own experience. I know that many parents make it through okay with the OS and Sandy's 'til their child is potty trained.

| Right now I have bamboo snap-in liners and stay-dry cotton liners, so I use one of each (obviously with the stay-dry against my baby's skin). How do hemp and bamboo compare in terms of thickness and absorbency? I guess I'll try to convince DH to at least try a third liner, or two diapers. If all else fails, I may invest in a few Toddle-Ease; I want to have another child, so chances are one of them will need it, and if not I can always resell them later, they'll be pretty new if used only for nighttime... |

| Oh, and I didn't mention it, but all of my diapers are bamboo as well. So I guess we've been spoiled with relative thinness, if we had everything cotton it would probably be just as bulky already as three liners with bamboo would be (if that makes any sense)... |

| I'm not sure if you've already tried this, but with my heavy wetter, I was also thinking of adding a 3rd liner, but since he is also a big boy, the Lg Sandies just didn't seem to have the room for more(since I am also using a piece of fleece on top of the other 2 liners). Instead I have been folding the 2nd liner in half and putting it at the front where he needs the most absorbancy and using the XL cover over it all. You could fold your bamboo liner put it at the front (if you haven't already tried this!)and lay the stay-dry over top. This has tied us over, however my Toddle-ease arrived yesterday and are drying in the basement...can't wait to try them!...I think he might still need the 2 liners, though. (Sorry, I don't know anything about hemp) |

| If you do not have room INSIDE the diaper for more liners, just put them on the OUTSIDE between the diaper and the cover. No one said liners had to go inside. Good luck! |

Thanks for all the suggestions! I used a mix: I folded a third liner in two and put it at the front, on the outside of the diaper. So far I have had no leak, although it is too quick to say for sure, but the liner is definitely soaked in the morning and the back of the diaper is a bit drier. So we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again! |

| I've found that fleece pajamas help contain any leaks. I've even put my daughter to bed with no cover in her fleece footie pajamas. So while it wouldn't increase absorbency, it mgith prevent the bedding from being wet in the morning. |

Hi, I have actually used in infant pf trifolded inside the meos. Seemed to work well. KRISTI; BFing, CDing, BWing, co-sleeping, selective/delayed vaxing SAHM to Kailey Noelle 12/24/94, A. Thorne 1/20/01, Henna Claree 1/24/05, and Caris Aoife Lachlin 10/16/08. |

We used a jamtots hemp folded into three, plus the MEOS liner with a Lg. Sandies and a wool cover for night time.
Some nights ds1's dipe can be very heavy but we never had any leaks at all. The wool cover is amazing! We got lazy and started using pockets...something dh likes much better. |

| I tri-fold a microfiber towel and place it between the diaper and the liner. Works for us! |
