My 2 mo old is 13 lbs or more and his thighs are too large for the sm Sandy's already... will the med covers fit ok over the L Sandy's?

There's only one way to find out for sure; I think you'd probably find the fit a bit picky for making sure none is poking out, but you might be able to smush it all in there.
Your LO must be quite the thunder-thighs! One thing that several moms here have mentioned doing (although a higher weights), is just leaving the legs on the XS or S Sandys unsnapped. Tucked snugly in a cover, you might find that this will work for you.

The smallest sized cover I found to fit on a large Sandy is the M-L. The rise on the smaller sizes is just too short.

I had a chunker too, he outgrew the small Sandys at 14 lbs. If I were in your shoes, don't get the M-L covers at all, it'll be a waste of money for a kid that big. Skip straight to the larges.

As for leaving the legs unsnapped, on a baby that young (who's still not on solids I assume? And therefore still has liquidy poo) I wouldn't recommend it, BTDT! They're still capable of making a mess and when they're starting to roll over and things get shifted around...it just doesn't work. I figured this out the hard way when I was trying to stretch some more time out of my smalls!

Thanks for your reply! I actually have med covers and only 3 L sandys coming this week.. and then I'll have 21 OS and 3 L sandys. I like the OS better, but I got a few sandys for nights. I wasnt even thinking of the covers not working when i ordered. Never thought he would've outgrown the s sandys already!

Thanks for your advice on the covers. In your experience, how long do you think he'll be able to wear the mediums? I guess I'll put the sandys away till I have to buy the L covers!

For what it is worth, My daughter weighs in at around 22 pounds at 20 months old. she has been wearing small sandy's and large Sandy's for at least 4 months now. We put m, ml and large covers on her still, and are able to fit not only either sizes of Sandy's but also the os with no problem. I really think it must depend on the shape/build of their bodies. My husband even manages to get a large Sandy PLUS a fat doubler into a medium for overnight with never a leak. and, actually, I do like the fit of the medium covers over the diaper, because it seems to make it a little trimmer.
