I just bought some unbleached Chinese prefolds for my 3 month old and 2 year old. I have a stash of MEOS that I presently use on my 2 year old and thought I should add some prefolds so I would have enough for both of them when my baby grows out of her infant prefolds.

Just for fun I put a prefold on my two year old and he peed right through it! It doesn't seem to hold much at all compared to my MEOS. I am wondering if I will need a doubler or if I just haven't washed the new prefolds enough.

any advice or ideas?

I'm really new to this so don't have too much advice but maybe this will help you. I just received two batches of unbleached prefolds. The first batch I just washed 3-4 times as directed and the second batch I boiled for 20 minutes twice before washing. The boiled diapers got rid of much more of the oils and are more absorbent.

I also have a MEOS that I have tried on my son and it definitely holds much more than a regular prefold. I'd add a doubler in there for sure if your son is peeing right through. Or maybe try a different fold so there is more fabric up front?
