DD's diapers have a HEAVY ammonia smell in the morning.  This is a fairly new thing.  I stripped the diapers with a HOT wash and 6+ rinses but the smell didn't going away.

I don't smell this on every wet diaper just the night ones and in the diaper pail and DD doesn't have an ammonia related rash like she had in the past.  Diapers smell clean when they come out of the wash too.  I started thinking that maybe its normal for this to happen with an older baby (DD turns one this week ).

If it isn't normal then please suggest how I can eliminate this smell.

Hi, my 11 month old ds has the same issue and has since he was about 7 months old- I have a diaper sprayer and bucket and it solves it if I rinse the diaper out really well with plain cold water while the diaper is still wet with urine.  In fact it helps so much I've been rinsing out all his diapers even if they're just a little wet.  It only takes about 2-3 minutes in the evening to rinse all his wet diapers of the day and he usually has 5 or 6.

I had a classic case of NOT ENOUGH DETERGENT!  We co-sleep and I used to be able to smell dd's night diaper from my side of the bed and now I'm not smelling it anymore!  I tried soap nuts and stripping with various methods but all I really needed was to use MORE detergent and get my diapers cleaner coming out of the machine .
