| Just curious what your opinion was about comparing the ME One Size Diapers versus the ME One Size Stay Dry Diapers. Do you have a preference? |

From what I have read on this forum, the stay-dry version is far less popular. You can easily add a stay-dry layer in a regular OS or just cut some fleece to size to get the same effect, and that last option would be cheaper. It gives you the option to have a stay-dry diaper or not, which is useful for potty training when you want the baby to feel the wetness, and to wash everything separately.
Stay-dry diapers can be practical but they will be more prone to build-up as it is an extra layer, the stay-dry fabric seems to stain more, and some babes can react to the polyester in the stay-dry liner, which wouldn't be much fun if it was your entire stash. So I think most people use mostly regular diapers and will only have a few stay-dry, for the diaper bag or for night. Having the regular diaper gives you more flexibility as you can always add a fleece liner.
You can always try one stay-dry and see if you like them. Personally, I have used only regular fabric with stay-dry liners in the beginning. At some point I had issues with a persistent rash and it disappeared when I got rid of the stay-dry liner. It may be a coincidence, or it may not, wo I'm glad I had the 2 layers separately and not sewn together!

Ditto ditto ditto! I have one stay-dry, and while it's fine, I do prefer to just add my own layer of fleece to the regular diapers (or not, now that we are getting pretty darn close to being fully PTed, and are just using the OS as undies). Fanfreluche gave the main reasons many people prefer to do their own thing, but here are a few other less-cited advantages: If you have a baby like my first who would poop two minutes after being changed (without peeing) the theory is there just to replace the fleece rather than the whole diaper. I don't think this is too common (because obviously the diaper should be perfectly clean to do this, and I don't think it's normal to poop that much or in such annoying intervals!), but we got serious mileage out of that for a while. Also, the fleece provides another layer for "pre-wiping" up poop; by the time you do a swipe with that and a swipe with the diaper itself, the washcloth is usually just batting a light clean-up. |

I guess I'll be the devil's advocate here. I love my stay-dry's! I bought them because we started out with xs sandy's and DS could not stand to feel wet even for a minute and since he was a frequent wetter I was changing diapers every 20 min and couldn't even get through a feeding if he was wet. I didn't want to mess around with an extra layer of fleece so I spent the extra money. Some other reasons why I love them....
They never stain, the poop doesn't stick and generally slides off easily, and they are always soft on the inside next to babies skin even if the outside is crunchy from line-drying. I only had a stink problem in the beginning when I was using the wrong detergent and not rinsing enough (front-loader issue). I've been using them 21 months and no stink since then. When you're PTing you could add a regular liner so they feel the wetness, or let them go cover-less and they will feel it on their legs, or put them on inside out.
I just hate to see my dipes always getting a bad wrap, I love them!

| I do not have the stay dry dipes, but I have the stay dry liners and I personally prefer the fleece. The poop comes off easier for me. But I have a super soft pooper (sorry if TMI). I could see how someone may like these better though, less in the diaper. |

You know, I was wondering about turning the liners over. When I first got one to try out, I couldn't tell which way to put it and think I had it upside down. I was happy to know that with the air flow cover it didn't leak, but was wondering about that for potty training later.
Is that what the Mother Ease people recommend we can do with them for potty training - turn the stay dry liner upside down? Would it still work properly, otherwise?
I'm wanting to get a few of each kind, as I like them all (the Sandy bamboos are my favourite, then the one sizes, and the stay dries). Since my husband thinks it's funny how indecisive I can be, he'll laugh when he sees I'm getting some of each. LOL |

| What kind of liners are you using? If they're the snap-in ones then I think they would work flipped over but I would worry that the snap part would dig in to your LO's skin since the smooth part is on the stay-dry side. Does that make sense? If they're the kind you just lay in then yes, they would work just fine. |

| well i have to admit that i go back and forth. I made the mistake of getting all my liners and half of my diapers in stay dry. I like it but it is extra bulky because of the extra layer. I was having a hard time with yeast rashes on my little one and thought it was from the diaper. I switched with a friend for some plain cotton ones and i have to admit that i missed them and am looking forward to having some of them back. The poo just falls off them, they don't stain, they are nice and soft. I like having them for sleeping mostly to keep her skin drier while she sleeps. I tried the fleece but didn't find it worked as well as everyone else?? i would reccomend a few but not all..or just your liners |
