  unsnapping insert to wash (Ginger)

Do you unsnap the insert to wash your diapers?  I'm using ME OS and have been unsnapping the insert.  Last night I forgot and washed a few diapers with the insert still snapped in.  They seems to have washed and dried fine.  Just wondering if I can skip the unsnapping step for the future.

Thanks,
Ginger

Good question, Ginger!  I am curious too.  I usually store the liners separately so I haven't been snapping in and if I do, I unsnap before throwing in the diaper pail.

I skip the unsnapping and never seem to have a problem  Try for a few washes and see if it will work for you.

When I used the One-Size I never bothered unsnapping, they just went in the pail as is and most of the time they were still snapped after washing. I'd never thought about it myself but it did come up on the board a while back that this may be a concern in terms of the insert getting 'pulled' during the wash (perhaps depending how rough your washing machine is on clothes) and possibly damaging the diaper. I'm not sure how likely this is but it's food for thought...

Karen.

You could search the old thread (maybe two months ago?), but most people seemed to think it's not a problem to leave the inserts snapped.  Unless you have an agressive agitator, you're probably not going to have problems--and in 4.5 years on this board I've yet to read any reports of snap/diaper damage because of this.  I always unsnapped because to me the theory is there for damage, but again, I haven't heard a whisper on that front.  Also, because I line dry, it makes more sense to have the diapers unsnapped so they are smoother to hang on the line and dry faster.

I went through the snap-unsnap and then got lazy...I just never snap my liners in place. They stay where they need to be without snapping. And if it's poopy, I don't have to fiddle with un-snappping a poopy liner!

I always unsnapped. However, I only used the liner at night. I also didn't want that snapped on it I was going to line dry. I also stored them seperately. However, my mom would sometimes forget to unsnap the liners if she was over and it never seemed to hurt anything.
