I am helping my friend collect new and used prefolds for an orphanage in Haiti (see http://foyerdesion.org). I know a lot of mamas on this site used prefolds before starting ME, so I'm hoping some of you might like to donate them. They are also accepting donations of coth wipes, though the main request is for diapers. Send me an email for a mailing address to temp_howard89@ hotmail . com.
And here's a heart-warming story about the last diaper drive...
This past January was the first time my friend collected prefolds. Previously, she'd always focused on disposables. When I heard her talking about buying the crumby prefolds you can get at chain stores, I had to interrupt. I told her about how bad those cloth diapers are and how much better they can be (politely). Then I contacted a local cloth diaper vendor and got a fabulous humanitarian rate of $12 per dozen (she's using the same place again). Well, to make a long story a little shorter, she collected and prewashed two suitcases full of diapers. This month she found out that the the orphanage has asked for more diapers "like the ones Aunt Janet brought." Isn't that wonderful!
If you'd like to donate money towards purchasing new (bleached) prefolds, you can call Justin at 877-215-9004. If you order them in the name of Foyer de Zion Orphanage you won't have to pay for shipping. You can order the first quality or the seconds, if they still have seconds in stock. |
