I have found that hanging diapers in the sun is the best way to get out stains. I have never washed my diapers in cold water, I am just old school in believing that hot water cleans better than cold. I do run a rinse and spin cycle with cold water before I run the wash cycle. I have blue, purple, green and teal diapers and I wash them together in hot water along with bamboo and covers, I have never had a problem with them bleeding on to the other diapers. I use soap nuts sometimes, I alternate between soap nuts and Gain. I like to make a tea by putting soap nuts into boiling water for 20 minutes and I add tea tree oil after it has cooled. I was having a problem with strong urine odor, and came across a post about soap nuts. I like to use them when the diapers start to smell but I can't bring myself to use them all the time, I just think nothing gets stuff clean like detergent. I hope this helps with some of your questions. I'm sure you will get lots of different feedback and you just have to choose what works for you.
