OT- eco-friendly detergent that actually cleans? (heather w)

I use soap nuts for my diapers and am happy with them but they don't get my other laundry really clean. Juice stains, dirt, etc and other stuff that I think should wash out, don't. I'm too lazy to pretreat or do much of anything else. I've tried a number of different eco-friendly detergents and haven't been impressed. I'm considering going back to good old Tide or something but thought I'd get some input first. I have a top loader (though same results with an front loader) and usually wash in warm. I looked at Charlie's Soap webpage and am considering that but am still a bit doubtful.
Many thanks.

For whites you could always throw in some Oxy-Clean, this will help with the stains and just get everything whiter. Some of us also throw in some washing soda to help boost the nuts cleaning power, you could try that.

I used to use Nature Clean detergent and was very happy with it. Admitedly I'm very easy going about my laundry but I never had any complaints.

Karen.

Hmmm, come to think of it, some food stains are not coming out like I'd expect them to since I started using Nature Clean exclusively, and I like it a lot for diapers.  Maybe I'll pick up some regular detergent and use it sparingly.

I figured something out.  With my diapers, I only use 1/8 of a cup of Nature Clean in the prewash (and that's it), but with regular laundry I use at least 1/4 of a cup, which is the recommended amount for a heavy load for a front loader.  I wasn't using enough detergent for regular laundry washed in cold water when I posted previously.
