question Fighting Stains... (Mom22)
Posted: 9:53:12 pm on 8/15/2009 Modified: Never

Since, I am new to the cloth diapering world I was just wondering if anyone can provide some good advice on how I can keep my diaper insides looking as good as possible for as long as possible. Thanks.

For me, I just make sure the diaper stays wet until laundry day.  I find when the poo dries on the diaper then it really stains.  Even of most of it falls in the toilet I'll still wet down the diaper before throwing it in the pail.  Other than that you could use fleece liners and make sure you do a cold pre-rinse before your wash cycle.  I have more problems with food stains on the outside of the diaper from going coverless than I do poo stains on the inside.

Fleece liners will keep most of the poop off the diaper.  I don't do anything special beyond that, but my diapers have no real staining.  Also remember that sunning can work wonders.  It's magic on BF poo stains, but will also fade more determined poop stains.

I second the sunning. I hang my diapers out to dry, and leave them on the line for most of the day even though they dry quite quickly. I find that it gets rid of stains really well, and my diapers almost 'glow' they are so white. I've also found that the sun takes out spaghetti stains and squash stains...
