I'm dealing with pants that are too short. My daughter is 10 months, and is 18 pounds. She is in the 25% for weight and 50% for height, so I didn't think she was a 'big' girl. At 10 months, I'm finding that most 12 to 18 months pants are just too short. They are gaping at the waist and big around the bum, but are too short. Is this the issue people are dealing with when they talk about having to go up a size in clothes because of cloth? Am I having to pull her pants up too high to get them over the diaper? Or are her legs just REALLY long? They honestly don't look freakish at all...

What brand of pants are you using? I find that old navy are one of the best for my skinny boy...

Usually people have problems with the rise of pants/sleepers being too short and sometimes the waist on certain pants not being big or stretchy enough to accomodate the bulk of a cloth diaper. I'd be surprised that it was a cloth issue if the waist and bum area fit fine (or are even too big), it's not impossible of course but it would be unusual.

It could just be the particular pants you have fit her weirdly (are they mostly the same brand??) or maybe she just does have long legs. I know that baby/toddler clothing often seems to have no rhyme or reason as to fit. I've had my kids outgrow clothing a year before it's 'supposed' to even fit (even wearing disposables) while other clothing has fit years past the 'supposed' fit age. In my experience things tend to settle a little as they get older but for babies it's really wild and bizzare sometimes.

Karen.

Funny, my son stayed around the 95% mark for height and 75% for weight and yet I always had the reverse problem... In order to get pants that would accommodate his big bum, I have to go one size larger and then roll the cuffs so he doesn't trip all over himself.

You may want to try other types of clothing, like dresses with baby legs, leggings, or overalls. And of course try different brands of pants. It seems that some babies just never really fit well in certain types of clothing. With our son, overalls never worked: unless he was completely swimming in overalls way too big for him, he ended up with the crutch too tight and the buttons popping open. I just gave up on them...

Keep looking and you'll find something that works for you!
