I am very very new to CD'ing as in we just officially started today . I bring my LO with me to work on Fridays sometimes more if needed and I'm nervous about changing her new CD's at work. I'm hoping to stick with fleece liners instead of the flushable ones. What do some of you do when your LO's poop and you're out. Do you rinse out in the toilet? At work there isn't a changing table so I have to change her on the counter. So I'd have to walk her out, put her down and then come back and rinse. Do you think it would be ok if I put the poopy liners in a bag and then come back and rinse them out? Any suggestions?Sarah(27) DH (27) DD born 3/10/09 New to CD'ing.

Congrats on starting to cloth diaper. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! I definitely don't rinse out in public toilets ... at the suggestion of one person on this forum (I'm sorry, I don't remember who) I use bread bags to keep my dirty diapers when I'm out and just roll up the entire mess, wipes and all, throw it in a bread bag, knot it, and deal with it at home. It really has never been very gross to deal with.

Awesome thanks! I was just wondering if it causes extra staining at all?Sarah(27) DH (27) DD born 3/10/09 New to CD'ing.

I am not a big one to worry about staining, I admit, but I have found that most stains tend to fade over time. Also, if you are using a fleece liner and everything is contained to the fleece it shouldn't stain your diaper. I would just keep in mind that stains are just stains, your diapers are still clean even if they are stained. HTH

I also just wrap the poopy diapers all up and deal with later - they're actually easier to deal with when the poop cools down - it kind of peels off (sometimes).  I also don't worry about stains - and they fade with time.

Good point I mean it's a diaper.... it's supposed to get messy and a stain isn't a big deal.

I also keep my diapers to rinse when I get home. As for stains, I find that the sun really does get them out, even formula/solid food poo stains, even in the winter (takes all day, but it still works). I also agree with letting the poo "cool off", it's actually a lot easier to deal with...

Congrats on starting cloth!

I have a few wet bags (ME makes nice ones) that I use for diapers when I am out.  If the diaper is poopy, I drop any poop that easily comes off in the toilet, otherwise I take it home to deal with it.  I don't worry too much about stains... they are diapers

Have fun!!!

I'm very much in agreement with roll it up, stick it in a bread bag, and deal with it later.  It is way too hard to deal with a squirmy child and a poopy diaper at the same time.  The only time I'd make an exception to this is if the poop were really well formed and could truly just be flipped into the toilet.  Then I think I'd do it, as it would take only a second anyway and would have my carrying around poop.  Otherwise, as other posters have said, slightly-aged poop is actually easier to get off diapers anyway.
Since you are going to a fixed location, you could bring a wet bag or a container of some sort that would contain your wrapped diapers if you are concerned about smell, i.e. make bread bag sausages, chuck them into the container, and then process them into your normal pail when you get home.

Have you read about elmination communication? Basically you watch for signs that your baby's going poop and you take them to the toilet. I found it very easy, but then again I don't work so I don't know if you have time to look and see the signs while working. If you can then you should probably be given some super mom cape!

I'm another one who just rolls it up and deals with it later.Mama to Rosy-5, Gracie-4, Lizzie-2, Andy-1, and one one the way. My dream is to replace my whole diaper stash with Mother-Ease Diapers!
