I have recently starting trying cloth diapers at night. I only have a couple of friends who cloth diaper, and none of them at night. Just looking for a few tips on what works! My daughter is 19 months old. She usually sleeps from about 8pm until 7am (yes I know I am very fortunate!) and is very wet in the morning. I have been using a ME one size, usually bamboo with a bamboo liner. I have also put a jamtots liner in between the diaper and ME liner....the jamtots one is hour-glass shaped which seemed to help with bulk...then a fleece liner on top of all of that.  But, maybe that is too much, and I should just stick with the ME liner?

I haven't had any leaks overnight, but the diaper is saturated in the morning. Does the fleece keep her feeling a bit dry, or would a stay-dry liner be better?

Any tips would be appreciated,
Thanks!
Kim

My son is only 3 months, and doesn't sleep nearly that long, so I can't say if you are using "too much" diaper.  I can tell you that we use a MEOS and a bamboo liner with a fleece inside and that works for us.  You could try using fewer liners to see if it would leak and then add back as necessary.  The fleece does help them feel dry, the same as a staydry liner would.  All in all, I say if your system is working stick with it.

Sounds to me like it's working great, so I'd stick with it. It's normal for the diaper to be pretty saturated in the morning. If it's completely saturated, I definitely wouldn't remove a liner. When my son was that age, I used a bamboo OS with bamboo liner and a cotton liner with stay-dry barrier, so pretty much the same you're using, but it wasn't enough and I started having leaks. We thought an extra liner would make it too bulky, so someone suggested adding an extra liner outside (on top of) the diaper. I can fold it in two and put it where my son needs it most, and the cover holds it in place without any problem. It saved the day for us.

Now that my boy is older, we usually manage to get him to use the potty at bed time and we can then skip the third liner. But it's something to keep in mind if you ever need it... Some parents hate to change a diaper that is completely saturated and just want that extra bit of absorbency.

Good luck!

Looks like it's working! My daughter wears a meos with a liner and either meaf cover or wool pull on and it's enough for her. But if your diaper is totally soaked then your liner might be necessary! You could try one night without it if you want.

Thanks for the responses! It has taken me forever to get back on the computer and check in. I think I will try to continue using fleece liners, just to help my daughter feel a little more dry. I only own 2, so they are often in the dry bag waiting to be washed, so I will get a few more.  Just really wanted to see if I was on the right track, since I don't know anyone else who really does night time cloth diapering, I only have a couple of friends who even cloth diaper during the day. I have learned a lot from just reading along in the forum. I wish I had tried cloth at night sooner, but happy it is working now!

Thanks!

You probably know this, but getting more fleece liners is as simple (as inexpensive) as buying cheap fleece and cutting to the size/shape you want.  No hemming needed.  The liners I made for my first son lasted through him and another one.
