I contacted a vendor who is in the U.S and was selling Motherease packages for 10% off, because of the U.S. black Friday sale. I tried to purchase them, only to be told that he 'wasn't allowed to sell to Canadians, as Motherease told him he had to direct them back to the Motherease site." That doesn't seem right! Motherease doesn't put their items on sale, where as some vendors DO, but I'm not allowed a 'sale price" because I'm Canadian?? I'm quite frankly surprised that ME would treat it's own Canadian customers that way. That seems like price fixing against Canadians to me. Booo.

Are you sure it would have been a good deal anyway though? Even with the 10% it might not have been. I'm pretty sure that ME vendors around here sell it for a little more than ME personally does. And I know that US residents pay a little more because of additional costs to maintain a seperate US warehouse. Plus there's the issue that ME offers substantially reduced shipping costs. $3 for any order over $75 is a really good deal, doubtful any small vendor could compete with that.

I know that vendors aren't allowed to sell ME products online, ME has exclusive rights to online sales. Perhaps this is a similar policy? Considering the above, it might actually be there to *protect* Canadians...

I don't know, just guessing. If it is a better deal then I understand that it would be frustrating.

This was a deal where if I ordered 12 diapers, I got 15% off, and if I ordered the package, I got 10% off, but they also gave free shipping as the promo. I have actually found quite a few online vendors in the U.S. for Motherease, including a vendor who sells on ebay, and includes free shipping too?
I'm just frustrated, more than anything, at being told I"m not allowed to buy from him, and have to stick to Canada.  You are right though, the ebay dealer gave me his 'best price' and with the exchange rate even being as good as it is, it was only a dollar cheaper than Motherease here, and I wouldn't have to worry about duty/customs, or the package getting lost. Why oh Why can't there be a sale on them HERE??! I need more diapers (yes..I sound like a motherease addict..sad...laugh)
Thanks Karen!

At this place, a bamboo sandy cost $ 12.10 with free shipping, and of course, no taxes.
In Canada, the cheapest I can find one is for 14.95 plus GST and shipping

I can understand the frustration, as it has happened to me several times (for things other than diapers). However, as you said, there is duty/customs, and in my experience, those fees are always higher than expected, especially when you have to pay a brokerage fee on top of it... I bought a really cool high chair from the US two years ago. It was an awesome deal, but I ended up paying more than $100 in unplanned fees. Ridiculous. In the end, I could have bought a similar product for about the same price down the street. I learned from my mistakes!

That's so terrible!!! I've been lucky MOST times, and not had to pay any duty at all, but the times I have had to pay..ouch. It's more than made up for the times I didn't. Thanks for pointing that out !
