question one size/toddle ease? (Brittany1287)
Posted: 5:32:05 pm on 12/13/2009 Modified: Never

I have been useing mother-ease one size on my baby since he was born. he is now 18 lbs. and only has one more snap to go. he also is already in the large AF cover because M/L his diaper always creeps out and leaks. Do you think I am going to need to buy toddleease soon? I thought the OS were supposed to fit to 35lbs? I have also thought of just using pre-folds or something? He is only 4 months old and has just flown out of these OS and I love the OS but don't know what to do when he grows out of them? Anyone else have their child grow out of them so fast?

Oh yeah! This happened to us as well (I felt like I was buying a new cover size every month to keep up) and I was quickly wondering about needing the diaper extenders (which ME sells, or at least used to) but as she started moving more and getting taller, etc., we were able to make it through the chubby stage and the diapers fit perfectly. You can get the extenders if you think that will keep your LO more comfortable and just giving it time they MEOS should go back to fitting just fine.

My DD outgrew the OS very quickly because she had chunky thighs... well she had a large waist, too, but the thighs were the main culprit. I found that the Large Sandy's fit well and lasted through potty training. Like the previous poster, DD grew back into the OS after she started walking. She was still gaining weight and height, but she became more trim where the diapers fit. In fact, I had her on smaller/tighter snaps when she was 18 months than when she was 9 months. Good luck!

I haven't seen them in person, just online (from a ME reseller in the UK), but the extenders are basically tabs with snaps on either end that attach to the snaps on the diapers to give you a few more inches.  Kind of like a bra strap extender, only with snaps like on the diapers.

OP--My first son was 22 lbs at 6 months, and I wondered if he was going to make it to PTing with the OS, but he did, at 34 lbs.  If you need to, the OS can be used with only the last snap fastened one each side (in the non-folded-over setting).  I did this briefly and never had any problems with them coming undone.
