I think I ordered my sponges from Gladrags, but I'm not sure.  They do have them, in any case.  I think I might have seen them at some natural food stores, too.

I have to say that I disagree about the pain issue.  While it is certainly true that psychological factors can cause or increase pain, there are also physical causes for pain, especially if your neighbor had four hospital births within the past 80 years in this culture  It's unlikely that she has no scar tissue, which can cause pain for decades, unfortunately.  Yay for physical therapy!  The "popping" action that the diva cup is prone to when you're learning how to use it can certainly be painful, just as poking yourself in the eye is more painful than gently inserting a contact lens.

It is amazing how many options are available these days.  Certainly more appealing than strapping old rags around your waist though!  I agree that the natural disposable pads are a nice option to have available now, too.  I hope your daughter doesn't get too overwhelmed   What an exciting time!

Thanks, I'll have to check out that website. Or hopefully my local health food store will carry, might talk to them about it regardless, they may have suggestions or experience to share even if they don't carry it per say.

I just meant that the reasons for pain (especially vaginal pain) are complex and often psychological. Any woman can experience pain when first trying any insertable device, regardless of what that device is and regardless of the woman's age or physiology. I've spoken to quite literally dozens of women who've tried the cup over the years and by far the most common experience is that it's miles above tampons in terms of comfort. I realize this won't be every single woman's experience and it may not be my dd's. But I'm just not concerned enough about it to consider it a barrier to her trying it out when she's ready.

Karen.

So I finally got the Diva Cup in.  I keep thinking about it but I don't feel it right now.  Hope it comes out easy in the am and I can reinsert it again...It's nice not feeling all wet down there...I am out of pads so this has to work.  And I sent dh to the store to buy me more pads and he came back with pantiliners.  LOL
