| Anyone here done this? My 19 month old still needs the rise folded down on his meos and it doesn't stay folded down and he gets wing droop. I saw on Diaperswappers that some people added snaps to keep the rise folded down and that helped them. I'm considering doing this and/or adding hip snaps since with his small waist and rise and big thighs, side-snapping diapers fit him well. |

| I can't help with the adding snaps, but I do wonder if he has big thighs and a small waist if you might be able to get away with not folding over and just snapping it on a smaller setting. Just a thought. I hadn't thought it would work for my guy but it fixed my wingdroop problem. |

| It doesn't works for me to snap it on a smaller setting unfolded; the sides of the front panel just slide out and droop worse that way. But what helps a little is if I snap the largest waist snap, then skip the next one and snap the smallest one. So the waist is kind of bunched up but the legs stay a little more closed. |

| hmm...I would be tempted to switch to Sandy's. |

|
| I have a bunch of Sandy's and right now it's great because they fit my toddler and my 1 month old but soon my toddler will need the large and I'd like a diaper that fits both boys. |

| I hear you there. I've got a 7 month old and a 2.5 yr old and right now they wear the OS on exactly the same setting. Have you tried something like the Drybees Gone Natural? They're more expensive but have a really nice fit. |

We had wing-droop as well and it drove me NUTS! I sold most of them (ticked me off but they just didn't work) and switched to Sandy's. We still have 18 bamboo but they're just sitting there... |

I am not trying to be difficult, but I'm wondering if you really need to fold down the front of the OS on a 19-month-old. I stopped folding down the front around 6 months on my chunk and probably around a year on my skinny fellow, around 20 lbs for both. Obviously so much depends on baby's build, but I think that most people stop folding over earlier than that. The diaper does not have to fit all that sungly because the cover keeps it where it needs to be. Of course, if the diaper doesn't seem to work well with the front up, I guess it doesn't matter--I'm guessing you've tried that? I'm curious though, as this is something I've never read much about or thought about, is wing-droop a performance issue? Or does it looks strange under clothes or cause discomfort to baby, or? I've never really thought about it before--would it have been obvious to me if it had affected one of my boys? I do agree with PPs, that if it's a big problem, having a diaper, like the Sandys, which is separately adjustable for waist and thigh, might be a better fit. |

| I saw on one site another way to fold over the rise. First snap the diaper on without folding over the rise. Then fold the rise over once it is already snapped. I saw it on a site called nappy lady. It is a UK site. You can find it on google. There is a page on there that shows all the folds for MEOS and prefolds too. I haven't tried this alternate fold, as my DD is 2 1/2, but I tried it on her doll and it worked. It would solve wing droop since it's folded in front OVER the wings. Does that make sense? I've also heard that some people put the diaper on without folding over, then they pull up the back and fold it over |

| I have to say that the nappy lady rocks! http://www.thenappylady.co.uk/ |

I did try that and it works for a little while then as he runs, jumps, climbs, etc, it comes unfolded even though it's folded after being fastened. I have tried it on him without folding and the wings slip out (he has a 15" waist and 12" thighs) and create big gaps in the legs then poop comes out, so it's definitely a functionality issue. Especially since we go coverless a lot for rashes, or use wool. I love meos though, I'm going to try adding the hip snaps I think. I love our Sandy's too but I really want the one size for my 2 lo's. |

| That is a pretty skinny waist, I can see why it's hard to get a good fit! My daughter has 12 inch thighs and a 20 inch waist. I hope the hip snaps help! |

I would maybe suggest still folding the diaper down and than snapping it nice and tight. If the diaper gets really wet, than it might sag more due to weight. Other than that, I agree with switching to the Sandy's...those are atleast geared towards specific weights. HTH!!!

| I never folded down my meos in the front. I snaped them the regular way and the pulled them up in the back (like I was giving her a wedgie) then folded the back down. It worked great |

|
| I would snap mine without the fold in the front, and fold up in the back too! It always worked wonderfully. |

I had a thought... I have a MEOS that has bald spots that I'm passing to my daughter for her doll and I was thinking of putting a few stitches in it so that the front rise stays folded down.
If someone is only using their MEOS on one child and needs the rise folded down, wouldn't it work to just put in a few stiches so it stays down? Then no need to worry about wing droop!
Of course you'd have to undo the stiches when it came time to fold the rise back up, but it shouldn't do too much damage to the fabric I wouldn't think...
not sure if it's a good idea or not, but thought I'd throw it out there! |
