how to get stubborn desitin out of diapers? (Fire Dancer)

we have been using desitin when my son had a minor rash last week and the dipes still smell fishy even after washing. also, i am getting a strong amonia smell with morning dipes.  i am thinking about stripping just the morning dipes to see if that helps with the amonia smell, but as far as the fishy desitin smell, i am at a loss on what to do in that case.  i know that desitin is not good with cds and i keep telling my husband that it is not good to use with them. he keeps telling me that it is fine because that is what was used with prefolds w pins andplastic pants when he used to diaper his siblings..

Desitin is a tough one, the thing is that it doesn't wash out easily because it's so thick and doesn't dissolve well in water. It will probably go away in time with repeated hot washes. I've heard of some people scrubbing with a toothbrush on any visible stains or just in the general area they know the cream probably was/is.
