question How many do you send? (Days_Fly_By)

For those of you who send your ME dipes to daycare, how many covers do you send along assuming s/he will be changed a minimum of five times/day? I have been sending brand new FuzziBunz One Size to daycare but A.) I hate them and want to sell them off and B.) no one at the daycare seems to be able to understand how to snap them properly so they are not falling down off of him. I only bought the dang FuzziBunz thinking they would be easier for the daycare (no tucking diapers into covers) but it's just not working out and it's seriously just annoying all of us. So I want to start sending our MEOS but I'm not sure how many covers to send each day. At home I just rotate between two covers each day unless one gets pooped on, but I'm a little worried the daycare might find putting a used cover back in his basket to dry a bit "gross". Yet if I send too many, I worry one might accidentally get lost or tossed...and I really, really love my diapers and covers so this would be a big deal to me.

I don't actually have experience with daycare. That said, I would be more worried about covers being lost if they were rotated. I also think a lot of people would expect to have a new cover with each diaper. Could you fold a cover outside each diaper when you pack the bag?

My caregiver is working out of her home so it might be different, but I always only sent two covers (the one he was wearing and one for back up)...  She got used to just wiping the inside of the cover with a wipe whenever she changed his diaper so there was no need to change the cover, and she was okay with that!  That's what we do at home (unless it gets soiled of course hence the back up cover) so it worked well for us!

I sent my daughter to home day care from the time she was 11 months until she was 17 months. She wore the onesize, and I sent 6 diapers in a clean wetbag, along with one spare cover each day. I always put the same cover back on for the whole day (I only change them in the morning), so that's how I told the daycare lady to do it. The spare cover was in case she pooped on her cover. I also left a small bag with 2 cloth diapers, a cover and 4 disposable diapers that were there on her shelf in case she ran out of diapers. I just finished day care, and got the small bag back, unused (she'd never needed it).

So I only sent one cover, but I don't rotate them during the day at home anyway. Maybe because my daughter was at home care, I didn't have any trouble with diapers or covers going missing, at least not in six months. I was afraid once that she had thrown one of my diapers out (because I got a disposable in my diaper pail one night), but I counted the other day and still had 36.

Hope that helps, sorry so long. Daycare was stressful for me, but actually worked out well, and she only came home in her extra pair of clothes twice (and I think once was because she sat on wet grass).

I use the same cover for a whole day also.  I only change the cover in the morning (or if it were pooped on).  Thus, I sent one cover as a spare to my mom who is taking care of DS during the day.  Every morning, I take a wetbag with fresh diapers over.  I count my diapers at home and determine how many to send over so that she has approx 8-10 diapers.  I also use MEOS.

I have one suggestion.  I would use patterned or coloured covers at daycare.  My DC provider temporarily lost a diaper cover once for a few weeks.  I think that because it was white, it was easier to lose in a pile of diapers, white towels, behind a couch (mistaken for a kleenex?), etc.  It's a small thing, but something to think about.
