An off topic question for other mom's that home birthed it -

We've washed our sheets with cold water and salt twice, and they still aren't clean. After our last home birth, everything came out with one wash in cold water with salt, but this time, there was a lot of amniotic fluid, so I'm wondering if that's made the sheets harder to clean. My 'how to clean anything' book doesn't cover this - any suggestions from experience?

I had a homebirth but it was a waterbirth so can't help with the sheets sorry...  I have a couple of friends who had homebirths, so if I find out anything that can help I'll pass it along!

I didn't have a homebirth (but would have loved it, slightly jealous...) but I know that detergents or cleaners with enzymes in them are supposedly good for all kinds of bodily fluids. There was a product called Mother's Little Miracle that I found once (it was aimed at moms for things like urine and vomit). If you can't find that there's a version aimed at pet owners that's pretty much the same thing (just packaged differently for a different target audience).

Or maybe ask your midwife? She might have a helpful suggestion. Or maybe go to a homebirthing forum and see if anyone there has a suggestion?

HTH,
Karen.

Hello!  Congrats on your birth.  I hope it was a beautiful experience!

I was lucky that my home births involved my water breaking on my bathroom floor.  Easy clean up!  Actually, my second DD was born while I stood at my bathroom counter.  She, for the most part, fell out of me! It was awesome!

Anyway, have you tried soaking for a good long while with detergent and then a light scrub?
