  Sizing for Sandys (eldredgejk)

I want to buy a stash of Sandys for my little one. At 10 wks he weighed 15 lbs. Should I buy the large? For those of you who have them what do you think. I don't want to put money into a diaper that he will grow out of in a month or two.

my kids aren't very chunky (tall and thin), but they both wore the small sandys until about 9 months, so you might want to get a couple of each size and see how they fit...

That's kind of a hard one.  My first son was a super-chunk and outgrew the S Sandys around 18/19 lbs, around 4.5 months.  My second son was small and skinny, and was able to wear them over 20 lbs, which for him was over a year.  Chances are that you might be able to make the L work, but they would surely look very bulky.  I second pichou's suggestion, since at this point, the only way to know for sure is to try.  ME has a great intro package, and they'd do it with Sandys if you call them.  I'm not sure if they'd do it twice (i.e. one for a S and one for a L Sandys, though you could ask), but if you used the intro pack to get one with a cover and then just bought the other, you'd still do okay.

If the S fits best, some thoughts:  If you think you'll be having more children to wear the S Sandys, then they might be worth the investment, even if they aren't worn for that long.  Or consider looking on the buy/sell forum to see if anyone is selling some S that you can use for a bit and then sell on.

Another thought:  the OneSize is a different style of diaper, but one of its benefits is that if you bought some now you wouldn't have to buy another size later on.  You might really want the Sandys, and they are a great diaper, but if you're not completely fixed on the Sandys, it might be worth giving the OS a look.

I got an intro pack for the OS and ordered a sm. sandys. Hopefully they will be coming soon. I will see how they fit. The sandys look so comfy...... lol I thought the same thing about kissaluvs but was not sold on it when I actually tried it. Thanks everyone.
Anyone have any L sandys they want to get rid of?

They will let you order two introductory offers at the same time. I *had* to, there is no way I could have figured out which size Sandy's worked for my 17 lb 5 month old any other way. Turns out if I had bought a bunch of smalls it would have been a total waste because they are already too short in the rise and very very snug on him. But some people find the smalls fit their children throughout the first year if not beyond. It entirely depends on your baby's build. Mother-ease introductory offers are a God-send, take advantage of them. - Dawn

I have big babies, so I understand your quandry. Here are my two cents; hopefully the info can help you when comparing the diapers on your little one.

My DD (10.5 lbs at birth) outgrew the hip snaps on the smalls around 4 or 5 months when she was 18 lbs. At that point the large was way too long in the rise for her to use, and the leg opening gaped. Fortunately, I was able to keep using the smalls with the bottom snap completely undone for a while... maybe another month or two? (Got that suggestion through this forum.) Another suggestion I found through the forum, but did not use, was to fasten the larges with a snappi until the LO grew into the snaps.

With DS (11 lbs at birth) the fit has been very different. He does not have chunky thighs (yet), but he's bigger overall. He's currently two months old and weighs 16 lbs 13 oz. Even if he stays "proportional" in his waist/hip sizing, I'm guessing he'll also outgrow the smalls at 5 or 6 months by hitting the 20 lbs mark.

Regarding the fit of the MEOS... these fit just fine on DS. They did not work with DD until she started walking and her thighs thinned down.
