My son is getting the rotateq vacine soon, he will be pooping out roto virus for approx a week.  Can I use my cloth through that??  He shares diapers with his brother who has also had the vaccine.

thanks!

I don't see why you couldn't. I don't know much about that particular vaccine (I had to google it to find out what it was) but since other vaccines (even others that shed) aren't a problem I don't see why this one would be any different. It's not even recomended to avoid cloth when a baby actually has rotovirus so I don't see why you'd need to avoid it with the vaccine. Hot water and detergent safely removes dangerous bacteria/viruses etc... from diapers.

I did read that the vaccine could cause diarrhea and some don't like to use cloth during bouts of diarrhea but personally that's when I appreciated the money saving aspect of cloth the most.

In my reading on this one of the things I read about was that vaccine shedding also occurs through other bodily fluids like sneezes etc... So really, the dirty diapers are probably the least of your worries since it's easier to isolate dirty diapers than it is to isolate a drooly baby kwim? Not that I'd be that worried, especially if his brother already had the vaccine.

I know that I've often read that vaccine shedding is actually a good reason to use cloth so that the shed ends up in a water treatment center, not the landfill.

I'll add to Karen's statement that times of diarrhea are when I appreciated the money savings AND wonderful containment of a good cloth diaper!

Ohhh, very very very good point!!! Hadn't thought of it but that's wayyyy more important than even the money savings!! :-)

My daughter got the rotateq vaccine, and we used cloth right through it, with no problems. My daughter didn't have any side effect from the vaccine with any of the doses (I think there were 3, right?) other than a little elevated temperature (not a real fever).

I have to say, the rotateq vaccine saved us numerous times. The roto virus went through our church nursery many times, and my daughter never caught it.
