Ok, washing cloth diapers just killed my washer machine. Any suggestions for a GREAT new washer machine and dryer. Obviously it will be used frequently

You can look up an old thread from about this time last year when I asked for suggestions for a new washer.

I never found any great must-have brands or anything (you can find sooo much confusing information out there about different brands and models - some swearing that their machine is the worst out there while someone else will swear that the exact same model is the best ever!).

I ended up getting a Samsung and I'm pretty happy with it. It's not a huge or fancy model but it had the features I wanted. I'd advise doing a little research and figuring out what features are important to you and taking it from there instead of trying to find the ellusive 'perfect' brand or model. For me I wanted something quiet and with low vibrations (since the laundry room shared a wall with the living room), I wanted something with a reasonably high capacity (family of 6 I do a lot of laundry!) and something with a good spin speed to really draw the water out and reduce drying times.

Karen.

We have a Whirlpool Duet set.  It is wonderful.  It has cut my laundry time in half.  It has a feature that you have do an extra spin and extra rinse too.  My friend has a set for a family of 5 it is works great for her too.  The dryer is awesome.

We have a Kenmore Front Loader and stack able Kenmore Dry. We have had them for over 9 years and I loving them plus they have been great for my diapers.

I would recommend looking for front loader with a extra spin and rinse features, especially if you are in Ontario Canada. These will help with the adjustment to our wonderful new hourly prices that just started in May 2010 depending where you live. I am so glad we have both our washer and dishwasher already have these features, they have been such a blessing over the years. I have set the times go to bed and wake up to clean dishes and a fresh load of laundry all while I was asleep.

Good luck with your search

Michelle
