For those of you who have tried different fabrics of ME, which do you prefer?

I love how the bamboo feels, but it kind of got a little pill-y in the wash.  The white cotton and colored cottons wash awesome, and they still look brand new after may washings.  But my organic cotton one got stiff and kinda misshapen.  Did anyone else have this issue with the organic cotton one?

i have never had this problem with the diapers since i do not own the organic ones. i have had that same issue with 100 percent organic cotton menstrual pads though. they got stiff and misshapen after a few times in the wash. i think it is due to the fact that in the organic cotton, there is no polyester knitted into the base of the fabric to control shrinkage and warping of the fabric. that is how it is with my pads anyway.   as far as the different diaper cloth, i prefer the cotton ones because of their nice drying time, but my son prefers the bamboo because it is softer against his skin.

I prefer anything to the organic cotton.  I would say that I like the colored cotton ones and the bamboo as a close second.

I really like the floppy-ness and softness of the bamboo.  I love the happy colors of the cotton ones.  I have 3 organics and they are stiff and misshapen as you described; they look shrunken and wonky, although they seem to fit fine.  I do think they tend to stain worse than the others and they take longer to dry.  They're definitely at the bottom of my list.  I had an organic Sandy and while it seemed thicker than the regular cotton sandies, it didn't seem to have the same misshapen factor that the one-size diapers have, so maybe it is the fabric used for the trim?

I had some organic Sandy's and I liked them fine. Mine weren't mishaped or anything like that, although I did notice that they weren't as stretchy (so this changed the fit a bit). I think that's fairly normal since they're polyester-free and the poly is what gives the regular cotton it's slightly stretchiness. They were a bit thickier and stiffer too...

But I still liked them, and for someone looking to be as eco-friendly and natural as possible then these are your best bet. The organic factor makes a huge difference as cotton is very pesticide heavy. And the lack of polyester would theoretically make the diaper more breathable (and since polyester is a petroleum by-product many worry about off-gasing).

If I had to do it over again I'm not sure what I'd get. I love love love the bamboo for it's super softness and trimness so that would probably be my first choice. I like the colors available and wish they'd make them in bamboo but then I've dyed my own before so I would probably just do that again. I'm not that worried about the polyester content in the regular diapers but then the eco-friendly angle of the organic cotton is very appealing.

So basically it's a good thing we're done having babies because I'd probably spend wayyyy too much time analyzing which fabric to get! LOL!

Karen.
