question Diaper Pails (hamrsark)

Does everyone really use diaper pails?
I just keep my washer half full of cold water and throw them right in.  That way I don't have any heavy buckets full of water to lug around.  All I have to do is spin it out, add the soap and run the cycle!
I have a small 2 gallon bucket to throw them in when I'm doing the rest of the laundry but I don't put water in it or anything, since there's usually only 3 or 4 in it by the time I'm done doing "adult laundry".
Or...would you consider the washer just a different TYPE of diaper pail?

Most people actually use dry pails. So they're indeed using an actual pail (or large plastic container of some sort even if it's not an official pail) but they don't fill it with water at all. Wet pails full of water are quite rare nowadays for the exact reason you mention. They're quite messy, heavy and potential drowning hazards as well.

I did do what you're describing though, use my washer as a wet pail. And it worked well for me as well. I thought it was a great idea when I heard about it. Allowed me to have the advantages of a wet pail (basically they help with stain prevention) with none of it's drawbacks. Worked great when I had only two children but when the twins came along (so now 4 kids) there was just too much other laundry to allow me to do that. So I just did a dry pail...

Karen.
