Hi everyone!  We are day time potty training so the only diapers I have to wash are our night time diapers.  We use ME onesize and 2 inserts for night.  They are soaked come morning.  Prior to this I washed diapers every other day.  But now that I only have 1 diaper a day, what's the longest I can go without washing?  I don't want the urine to harm the fabric by sitting too long.  But I also feel kind of silly only washing 2 diapers at a time.  Would 4 or 5 days be too long to wait to wash?

thanks so much,
Ginger

I go that long or even longer on a regular basis with no problems. I don't even rinse my diapers (well bedwetter pants actually) although rinsing would help with any odors and make cleaning easier come wash day. In theory you shouldn't go any longer than about 4 days though so your mileage may vary there, depending on your routine etc...

No harm in washing with other items too, like washcloths, towels, sheets or whites (anything that can handle the hot water basically). You're not likely dealing with poopy diapers and you can pre-rinse the diapers alone so really I think it's perfectly ok, I do it all the time.

Karen.

Thanks Karen!  I'll give 4 days a try.  And yes, you are right, no poppy diapers.

We used just night diapers for well over a year, and I would just rinse them out in the morning and toss them in the pail for up to four days (I will confess, it probably went longer a few stinky times).  I would toss them in the washer with dish cloths, face cloths (we don't use napkins, just wet cloth wipes, for the kids at the table), and anything else that could benefit, and set it for a quick hot wash, no spin.  Instead of detergent, I put vinegar in the dispenser.  That would leave me with sodden things rinsed with hot water and vinegar; to that I'd add all other whites and just do a hot load as usual.
The hot rinse (quick wash) and vinegar are probably not necessary for all; it's just what seemed to work best for me, and I actually still do this for my dishcloths and such, as it seems to keep them better-smelling then just a hot wash.  I'd probably just run them through any kind of rinse and wash with rest of the whites until there's a reason to complicate things.  :-)
