question advice on choosing cloth nursing pads (Fire Dancer)

hey guys, i am finally able to post on this board again. those of you who have used cloth nursing pads, i really need some advice on which brand to choose. i used disposables with my first child and despite the night feedings, i would wake up very engorged and the pads would be puffed up and totally full to the point of extreme leakage. a friend bought me 2 packs of the gerber washable nursing pads and when i tried those, the milk leaked right through the pad and onto my shirt. please, i really need some good advice on which cloth pads to choose that will be discrete, yet reliable and leakproof so that i will not have as many milk leakages with this upcoming baby in july.

I used the Avent cloth pads, and they were okay.  I used another brand that isn't available here anyway, which is good, because I wouldn't recommend them!  The Avent were better than those, but I can't say that I never had leaks.  They were a decent price point, though, and I liked them better than the disposables I tried.  They also made it through two kids.  Related to that, however, I will say that I had far, far fewer leakage and engorgement problems the second time around.  My two  sons' nursing patterns were very different, which may have had something to do with that, but I've heard that from a few other moms, too, that things can be a little more settled for subsequent nursing experiences.

ok. i can try the cloth pads that i already have and see if it is different the second time around but i doubt it will be because these pads are extremely thin and even if my let down was not that strong, it would still leak through. i was doing some research last night and i came across a brand called milk diapers, and from what i have heard, they are really good. there is a type sold in the line that has a pul moisture barrior. what do you think? ifthe pul is ok for my son to use in his diaper cover, will it be ok for me?

I use motherease cloth nursing pads and a couple of WAHM made nursers as well as some organic cotton ones with cute designs I got at a local baby boutique. The organic ME ones have what looks to be staydry on the outers-to keep your clothes dry, and organic cotton next to your skin. They are quite wide so you dont have to worry about them being off center and leaking through your clothes. I love them. Ive also heard women who tend to leak a lot rave about PUL lined pads (I dont leak very much at all-even over night). There are a couple of WAHM brands with PUL that have really good reviews on etsy.

I use the wool ones from Nature's Fabrics.  I also use Homestead Emporium's pads (my favs are the OBV wool-backed ones).  And, I also tried my hand at making my own (OBV, wool-backed) - the ones I made are bulky, so I only wear them inside a padded bra or just around the house.  I save the ones that are more professionally contoured for wearing out and about.  ~Lindsey~

I tried both the Mother-ease cotton and bamboo nursing pads and sleep in shelf-bra camis from Old Navy. I prefer the bamboo ones as they are softer and thicker and the cami helps keep them in place when I am sleeping to avid leaking everywhere.
